Drogo's first piping inspiration came along in 1995 when he saw a medieval piper playing for the Maypole ceremony at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. The sound resonated with his soul....thus Drogo started piping in 1996 with the Cincinnati Caledonian Pipe Band. That was okay but too rigid and military and not enough musical freedom. He then played Irish Uilleann Bagpipes with The Riley Irish Music School in Cincinnati. The Irish Pipes were very expressive yet much to difficult to maintain in the Ohio climate so he moved on to the the French Veuze, Biniou Kozh and Bombard. French pipes and music of Brittany were very attractive but finding an a second player to form a Sonerion was impossible in America. One day whilst combing the internet he found a band called Corvus Corax and he new his calling was here. He bought a set of German Medieval Pipes from Jens Güntzel of Goda Germany and realized his true love was found. Soon after he setup a myspace page, uploaded a few tunes and the hits began to pour in like rain. Shortly after he was featured in Celtic Heritage Magazine out of Nova Scotia. He is determined to bring this music to America to share the ancient sounds of our European Heritage.
